FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Broadway In Chicago "Mary Poppins Is Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious"

Chicago, IL - June 10, 2009 - A superb performance was witnessed by all who were in attendance at the Cadillac Palace Theatre to see Disney's beloved family classic "Mary Poppins".  This production hits the bullseye with a night filled of fantasy, exploding with a collage of whimsical songs, magestic magical scenes, sensational choreography and loads of unexpected heartfelt suprises. The show made it's debut in Chicago on March 11, 2009 and will run through July 12, 2009. The show is lauching it's national tour.

The play is produced by Disney and Cameron Mackintosha and is a combination of the Walt Disney film along with the best original stories by P.L. Travers. One might think this is just a play for children. But amazingly the story line has a message for adults as well.  A message that all households can relate to while touching the hearts and souls of all who take part in the magic of this Broadway production.

As the story begins the Banks family is in search of a nanny.  Mr. Banks has his requirements which are quite different from what the children are hoping for.  Of course everyone is becomes quite content when Mary comes to join the Banks household.  We are definitely seeing a change in the family structure in American, however the entire family can enjoy this performance. It is full of delightful and amazing characters of both young and old, rich and poor where a family's perspectives are seen and projected through each others eyes pointed out by none other than America's most extraordinary nanny "Mary Poppins".

When Mary Poppins played by Ashley Brown sings you can feel the entire audience fall in love with her over and over again as she can be seen gliding up the chimney or the staircase of the home of the Banks family. Bert the chimney sweep played by Gavin Lee is her counterpart that sings songs that compliment the entire show. Songs filled with words that help us all learn how to conduct ourselves in life and enjoy simple things like "flying a kite". From "Temper Temper", when Jane shows anger, "Feed the Birds", where Michael learns how to be kind and give to others, "Practically Perfect" sends a message of Mary's self confidence and a sweet recipe that consists of "A Spoon Full of Sugar" is what will be heard in the kitchen as Mary helps to correct the sabatoge of the children. Everyone's voices seemed to be flawless. "Step In Time" is one of the best choreography scenes in the show. It is simply outstanding.

The whole audience became engaged as the word "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" came to life and everyone joined in  singing and clapping their cares away. The umbrella scene was dymamic along with the realism that was projected by the stage prompts and scenary. The costumes were of vibrant colors and appeared to be authentic and from the period time that the story took place.  Even the statues in the scene that takes place in the park were quite believable.

If any one had minor complaints or problems with the show in the beginning because of small techincal difficulties they are certainly gone now. Bravo to the orchestra who played with excellence where there were no flaws in their performance as they played most of our old favorites with added newer selections as well. The performance last night left the whole audience cheering at the Cadillac Theatre in Chicago.  I'm sure most people left as a different person from when they first walked in and took a bit of the magic that "Mary Poppins" seems to leave behind.
